The following types of student knowledge control are provided to verify students' academic achievements:
- current control;
- border control;
- final control;
Current academic performance monitoring, intermediate and final attestation of students are conducted in accordance with the approved academic calendar dates.
Ongoing monitoring is a systematic review of students' academic achievements conducted by a teaching teacher during the academic period in accordance with the syllabus of the discipline. The current monitoring of students' academic performance is carried out on each topic of the academic discipline and includes knowledge control in classroom (seminars and practical classes, for completed laboratory work) and extracurricular activities (homework, SRS assignments). The assessment of current control (assessment of the admission rating) consists of assessments of current control in classroom classes and assessments of border control (extracurricular activities).
With the current monitoring of academic performance, students' academic achievements are evaluated on a 100-point scale for each completed task (classroom work, homework, SRS, boundary control). The final result of the current academic performance monitoring is summed up by calculating the arithmetic mean of all grades received during the academic period. A similar approach is used to evaluate students' academic achievements during the intermediate and final attestation periods. Records of the results of the current control and assessment of knowledge are maintained through regular registration of students' academic achievements. Changes to the results of the current control in order to improve them are not allowed.
Boundary control is the control of academic achievements carried out upon completion of a section (module) of one academic discipline. It is conducted at least twice (in the 8th and 15th weeks of theoretical training) during the same academic period within the framework of one academic discipline. The form of conducting current and boundary controls, depending on the specifics of the discipline, is set by the teacher. Current and boundary control can be carried out in the form of colloquiums, computer or blank testing, written control papers, assessment of students' participation in debates, round tables, business games, solving situational problems, etc. When calculating the admission rating, assessments on the protection of computational and graphic, term papers provided by the curriculum are necessarily taken into account. The complexity of coursework (projects) is included in the overall complexity of the discipline. The assessment of the admission rating is cumulative and consists of assessments of the current academic performance control and assessment of the boundary control (2 boundary controls during the semester). A student who scores less than 50% of the total semester rating score is not allowed to participate in the examination session.
All types of current and boundary control and assessment of students' knowledge are conducted by a training teacher (tutor). This assessment is at least 60% of the final assessment of knowledge in this academic discipline. The assessment of the intermediate certification of students is at least 30% of the final assessment of knowledge in this academic discipline. The teacher leading the classes is responsible for conducting the current control of students' knowledge, the validity and objectivity of the assessment of border control.
The final control of students in order to assess the quality of their mastery of the discipline program is carried out in accordance with the relevant Instructions during the interim certification period. If a discipline is studied over several academic periods, then the final control is carried out in the part of the discipline studied during this academic period.
Forms of final control:
- testing;
- oral examination;
- written exam;
- differentiated credit.
The form and procedure of the examination in each academic discipline is established no later than one month from the beginning of the academic period.
Students must pass all exams in strict accordance with the individual curriculum according to the approved academic programs of disciplines, uniform for all forms of education.
To carry out the final control of students' knowledge, the examiner is given an examination sheet by the registration department with the admission rating points obtained by the student during the academic period. The exam score, both positive and unsatisfactory, is entered by the examiner in the exam sheet. The exam results, according to the exam sheet, are entered by the registrar methodologist into the Intranet within 48 hours after the end of the exam.
When conducting an interim assessment in an academic discipline, the assessment obtained on the exam and the average score of the current academic performance monitoring during the academic period are taken into account. After completing the exam in each discipline, the student is given a final grade, which serves as an assessment of his academic achievements. The final assessment of the discipline includes assessments of the admission rating and the final knowledge control (exam).
A positive final assessment serves as the basis for supplementing the completed credits with a set number of credits in the relevant discipline and is recorded in the student's transcript.
If a student receives an "unsatisfactory" grade in the interim assessment (exam), the final grade in the discipline is not counted.
It is not allowed to retake a positive assessment on the final control in order to increase it during the same period of the interim assessment. In order to receive a positive assessment, the student in the next academic period or in the summer semester re-attends all types of training provided for in the work curriculum for this discipline, receives admission and passes the final control. In this case, the student goes through the registration procedure for the academic discipline again.
If a student who has completed the discipline program in full did not show up for the exam, a mark "did not show up" is made in the examination sheet opposite his last name. If there is a valid reason, an individual exam schedule is set for this student. In the absence of a valid reason, failure to attend the exam is equivalent to an unsatisfactory grade.
The examination report is sent to the registration department to set off the number of credits in academic subjects of the completed academic period and to form a summary statement of the interim assessment.
Admission to the examination session is carried out in two stages:
1) at the first stage, by a general order of the dean of the faculty (director of the Institute), admission to the examination session is made for students who do not have arrears of tuition fees, academic arrears on prerequisites, who are not on academic leave or on long-term medical treatment.;
2) at the second stage, automatic admission to the exam in the discipline is carried out based on the assessment of the admission rating, determined by the results of the current and boundary performance control. This admission is carried out by the registration department according to the examination list with a corresponding mark next to the last name of each student.
Students who do not have a positive assessment of the admission rating in this discipline are not allowed to take the final control (exam). Students who have not completed their term papers (projects) are not allowed to take the exam in the relevant discipline.
In some cases (due to illness, family and work circumstances), the student is allowed to take an examination session according to an individual schedule.
