Departments

The Department of Science at Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University is a structural unit responsible for the coordination and monitoring of research activities across all nine faculties of the university. Its primary goal is to enhance the effectiveness of scientific and innovative activities, ensure the fullest utilization and development of the University's scientific potential, and strengthen the material and technical infrastructure for research.

Functions of the Department:

- Maintaining a scientometric database of the University's academic staff;

- Preparing analytical and informational reports on the publication activity of academic staff in international databases such as Web of Science, Scopus, and others;

- Providing methodological support to academic staff in the use of international scientific information databases, including Web of Science and Scopus;

- Coordinating the development and promotion of University journals, monitoring the growth of journal impact factors, and ensuring the quality of publication content and production (including organizing editorial boards, attracting highly cited authors, verifying compliance with technical requirements, and maintaining journal websites);

- Conducting scientific research and developing innovative projects aimed at creating and implementing new technologies, methodologies, and solutions;

- Providing organizational and methodological support for scientific, innovative, and educational activities, including research, expert evaluation, seminars, and conferences;

- Fostering cooperation and integration among science, education, culture, and the social sphere, as well as representing the University's interests within its area of competence;

- Planning, coordinating, and supporting the activities of the Abai Labs research and innovation park, including resource management, preparation of reports, and implementation of tasks assigned by the University administration;

- Coordinating the activities of the office for commercialization of research and scientific-technical results;

- Developing the University's startup ecosystem;

- Organizing and conducting startup project competitions and incubation programs focused on entrepreneurship education;

- Providing advice and support to students and academic staff on issues related to commercialization, technology transfer, and entrepreneurial activities.

The Department of Science consists of the following divisions:

1) Center for Scientometrics and Scientific Publications;

2) Office for Commercialization of Research and Scientific-Technical Results;

3) Abai LABS Research and Innovation Park, which includes nine research laboratories and four research centers.            

These divisions operate in accordance with their respective regulations, job descriptions, work plans, and reporting procedures established by the university's quality management system. An annual report on research activities is presented to the Academic Council.
