The history of the Department of Economic Specialties of the Sorbonne-Kazakhstan Institute dates back to 1993. The department has repeatedly undergone name transformation and received this name in 2016 due to the unification of economic specialties.

The department provides training for bachelors, masters and PhDs in the group of educational programs "B041-Business and Management" (Economics, Management, Finance, Accounting and Auditing, Public and Local Government, Marketing). Currently, the department successfully implements a double-degree bachelor's degree program in the OP "6B04101-Economics" (Abai KazNPU) together with the University of Poitiers (France).

Human Resources

The department's staff consists of highly professional employees. These days, the department is headed by PhD in Economics M.A. Kanabekova. Our department unites 2 doctors of economic sciences, 3 PhD doctors and 9 candidates of sciences, who make an invaluable contribution to the development of the intellectual and scientific potential of the country.

A number of teachers of the department were awarded medals "Y.Altynsarin", "For services to the development of science of the Republic of Kazakhstan" of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, letters of gratitude from the Ambassador of France, "Algys Khat" from the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, "Kurmetti ustaz" of KazNPU named after Abay, etc.

Educational and methodological work

The curricula of specialties prepared by the department have been accredited by agencies for assessing the quality of higher education and have proven their quality.

The educational process at the department is based on an organic combination of the rich traditions of Russian higher education and advanced foreign experience. As a result, students get the opportunity to get acquainted with the latest achievements of world economic thought in the field of economics, finance, accounting and management. The department has a methodological seminar, coordinated by PhD in Economics, senior lecturer E.O. Telagusova. The methodological seminar functions in accordance with the approved plan.

Employers and graduates help the Department of Economic Specialties create educational programs of tomorrow.

In the new conditions, it has become critically important for universities to accurately predict the demand for the competencies of future graduates in the real labor market.

The department consistently develops interaction with potential employers - they know exactly what knowledge and skills their employees need today and what will be needed tomorrow. It should be noted that employers are representatives of scientific organizations, business structures, and government bodies.
