Faculty of Pedagogy and Psychology

The Department of Preschool Education and Social Pedagogy of the Faculty of Pedagogy and Psychology is the leading department in the Republic of Kazakhstan in training specialists of three levels in the direction (bachelor's, master's, doctoral).

In the direction of the bachelor's degree, training is carried out according to the educational programs:

• 6B01201-Preschool education and upbringing,
• Since 2024 6B01204- Preschool education (IP)
• 6B01801-Social pedagogy and self-knowledge
• Since 2023 6B01801-Social pedagogy

Duration of study: Full-time - 4 years, 3 years, 2 years

In the direction of the master's degree, training is carried out according to the educational program:

• 7M01201-Preschool education and upbringing, (scientific and pedagogical) - 2 years.

In the direction of doctoral studies in the educational program:

• 8D01201-Preschool education and upbringing, (scientific and pedagogical) - 3 years.

The history of the Department of Preschool Education and Social Pedagogy begins in 1983, when the Department of Pedagogy and Methodology of Primary Education was formed on the basis of the defectology faculty of KazNPU named after Abai.

In 1990, as a result of the reorganization of the faculty, the Department of Primary School Pedagogy was created, the first head of which was the famous scientist, Professor Talgat Sabirov. Professor Romseit Koyanbaev, who headed the Faculty of Pedagogy and Methodology of Primary Education at that time, provided great assistance in opening an independent department.

In 2015, due to structural changes in the university, students of the specialty "Preschool Education and Upbringing" were transferred to the department, since this year the division has been called the Department of Preschool Education and Social Pedagogy.

An indicator of the high rating of the Department of Preschool Education and Social Pedagogy is the participation of its leading professors in the work of scientific councils. By the decision of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Dissertation Council has been functioning at Abai KazNPU since 2019 with the assignment of the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) (10 doctoral students have successfully defended their theses in 5 years).

The solid faculty of the department is represented by doctors, candidates of pedagogical sciences, PhD doctors; for services in the development of psychological and pedagogical education and science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, he was awarded the following awards: Y. Altynsarin badge - 2, "For services in the development of science" - 2.

The educational programs "Preschool education and upbringing (6B01201 (204), 7M01201 and 8D01201)", as well as "Social pedagogy" of Abai KazNPU are among the best leading programs, competitive in the scale of training of teaching staff in the Republic. Proof of this is the fact that the educational programs of these specialties have occupied leading places in the IAAR rating for several years in a row.

The faculty of the Department of Preschool Education and Social Pedagogy of the Kazakh National Pedagogical University named after Abai is distinguished by a high level of professional competence and scientific activity. The teachers of the department actively participate in international conferences, presenting the results of their scientific research at prestigious global venues. This contributes to strengthening international scientific cooperation and exchanging best practices in preschool education and social pedagogy. The teachers of the department take an active part in scientific research funded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan (MSHE RK), which contributes to their professional growth and expansion of scientific horizons.
