Today, the Scientific
Library of Abai University hosted an Open Day titled “The World of Science and
Education,” during which a book exhibition of women scientists was opened. The
opening ceremony was attended by representatives of the AMANAT Party,
university leadership, and women researchers.
According to the Ministry of
Science and Higher Education, 51.6% of specialists in the field of science are
women. This indicates that women are now active and significant participants in
the research landscape. At Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, 68.5%
of the teaching staff are women. Among them, 75.5% are Candidates of Sciences
and 74.5% hold a PhD degree. During the opening, Vice-Rector for Research and
Innovation Ertai Sultan emphasized the important role of women scientists in
enhancing the university’s scientific potential and highlighted the
significance of their equal contribution to science.
During the event, Gulnara
Amirova, Deputy Chair of the Women’s Wing of the Almaty City Branch of the
AMANAT Party, and Oralbek Kurbanbayev, Head of the Political Work Department of
the same branch, highly praised the work of women scientists. They emphasized
the dedication of women who have chosen the path of science, actively
implementing research projects and contributing significantly to scientific
development.
The exhibition featured
scientific works, textbooks, and books authored by women scientists of Abai
University. Their research projects and studies were also presented, showcasing
their contributions to the advancement of science. It is worth noting that a
strong community of women academicians has been formed at the university. Among
them are academicians of the National Academy of Sciences: Doctor of
Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Alma Abilkassymova; Doctor of Geographical
Sciences, Professor Aliya Beisenova; Candidate of Philological Sciences,
Professor Fauzia Orazbayeva; and Doctor of Philosophical Sciences, Professor
Aktolkyn Kulsarieva.
In addition, the participation of
women scientists in research projects at Abai KazNPU has increased. Out of 32
projects funded through grant financing, program-targeted funding, and young
scientist initiatives of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the
Republic of Kazakhstan, 17 are led by women researchers. The total number of
project participants is 175 scientists, of whom 106 are women (60.57%).
