MEMORANDUM SIGNED WITH SUMGAIT STATE UNIVERSITY OF AZERBAIJAN

Today, the II Forum of Rectors of Higher Education Institutions of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan commenced in Almaty. The event brought together the Ministers of Science and Higher Education of both countries, as well as university leaders, to discuss issues of strengthening international cooperation. As part of the forum, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between Abai University and Sumgait State University of Azerbaijan.

This year, the II Forum of Rectors addresses pressing issues in the field of higher education. A bilateral meeting was held with the participation of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan, Sayasat Nurbek, and the Minister of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Emin Amrullayev, along with university leaders and representatives of relevant agencies.

The parties discussed key issues related to the development of interstate cooperation in higher education, including academic mobility, joint educational programs, and the expansion of partnerships. At the opening of the forum, Minister Sayasat Nurbek delivered a welcoming speech, emphasizing the strategic importance of strengthening academic ties between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.

“It is a great honor for us to host such a distinguished delegation and to continue the meaningful dialogue initiated during the first forum. Currently, 62 higher education institutions of Kazakhstan cooperate with 81 universities in Azerbaijan, with a total of 188 agreements signed. Within the framework of today’s forum, it is planned to sign 63 new memoranda between 18 Azerbaijani and 29 Kazakhstani universities,” the minister noted.

Within the forum, Chairman of the Board – Rector of Abai KazNPU, Bolat Tlep, and Acting Rector of Sumgait State University of Azerbaijan, Aminaga Sadigov, signed a memorandum on bilateral cooperation. The memorandum aims to expand academic and scientific collaboration between the universities of the two countries and to develop joint educational programs.

The events will continue on April 7–8, during which the “Study in Azerbaijan” education exhibition will be held. The exhibition is aimed at informing prospective students about opportunities for higher education in Azerbaijan and expanding academic cooperation between the two countries.
