STUDENTS MET WITH REPRESENTATIVES OF INTERNATIONAL DIPLOMACY
As part of the traditional Science Decade held at Abai University, students and faculty of the Sorbonne-Kazakhstan Institute met with prominent representatives of the nation’s diplomacy. This insightful gathering, bridging education and practice, was dedicated to analyzing the history and development trends of Kazakhstani diplomacy.
The meeting featured experienced professionals who have made a significant impact on the country's foreign policy: Merited Diplomat of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Deputy Chairman of the "Association of Kazakhstani Diplomats" NGO, Maksat Nurmagambetov, and international relations expert and political scientist, Bulat Sultanov.
The discussion centered on the formation of domestic diplomacy and its significance in modern society. The speakers highlighted the immense responsibility of the field and elaborated on the requirements for future specialists.
In his speech, Maksat Nurmagambetov emphasized that the art of negotiation is not merely a professional skill but a profound civic mission. According to him, young people choosing this field must possess a deep knowledge of national history, respect national values, and maintain professional composure. He urged the students to pair their academic knowledge with wisdom and integrity.
Bulat Sultanov focused on the decisive role of diplomacy within the international relations system and explained the importance of negotiation culture in political processes. In his view, a true professional avoids hasty decisions, weighs every word, and places national interests above all else. The political scientist also acknowledged the historical figures who contributed to the formation of independent Kazakhstan, noting the inherent connection between science and diplomacy.
The meeting included a comprehensive discussion on the global economy, the geopolitical landscape, negotiation mechanisms, and methods for resolving complex situations in interstate relations. Students had the opportunity to ask questions and engage in an open dialogue with the speakers, gaining a deeper understanding of the inner workings of this demanding profession.
In the concluding part of the
event, Pak Hye Hyun, a Master’s student of the Department of International Law,
presented research findings on "Korea-Kazakhstan Cooperation,"
providing a comparative analysis of economic ties between the two nations. The
