NATIONAL CLOTHING – A MODERN TREND IN ETHNO-STYLE

March 18 has been designated as National Clothing Day as part of the "Nauryznama" ten-day celebration. This day is not only a reflection of the nation's essence but also a day that showcases its cultural and spiritual taste through patterns and adornments, highlighting historical value and traditions. For Abai University, every Tuesday of the week has been designated as "National Clothing Day."

National clothing is a cornerstone of the culture of the Kazakh people, who say, "A person's beauty is in their attire," with deep roots in history. For those who understand, it embodies a complete history, culture, and traditions. The Kazakh people, who could express ideas through patterns, have deeply connected national clothing with their self-identity. Therefore, national clothing is a mirror of our worldview, intertwined with our daily lives. Hence, it is considered our rich heritage that instills national pride.

Abai University, taking this value into account, has designated every Tuesday of the week as "National Clothing Day." On this day, faculty and students, to the best of their ability, adorn themselves in national attire, rich with patterns and tastefully decorated, enhancing the elegance. This is recognized as a new wave in self-awareness and the preservation of cultural codes. It is worth noting that the tradition of wearing national clothing is complemented by melodies played during breaks, which profoundly touches the human spirit.

It is undeniable that national clothing, reflecting our centuries-old culture, is widely used today. Society has begun to perceive girls' qams hat and camisole as symbols of refinement, and men's shapar and taqiya as symbols of nobility. The fusion of various Kazakh patterns with modern styles is a highly sought-after trend among youth. In this regard, there are also numerous styles that have become brands. Consequently, it is natural for consumers to demand that designers work by deeply mastering the art of conveying the meaning of patterns. This likely signifies respect for national clothing.

The next generation must understand this. Wearing national clothing, as a unique identity, promotes our culture among foreign guests and students. Furthermore, from a fashion perspective, the integration of national elements by contemporary ethno-designers into everyday clothing should become a modern trend. After all, the deep meaning behind each pattern is aimed at strengthening spiritual connection with our national identity.

The tasteful consumption of national clothing in everyday life is undoubtedly respect for the national cultural-historical identity and a correct step towards the future.
