VICE-RECTOR BANU NARBEKOVA AWARDED THE MEDAL “FOR LABOR DISTINCTION”
Today at the Akorda residence, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, presented state awards to a group of women during a ceremonial event dedicated to International Women’s Day. The awards were given for their contributions to public and state service, their significant role in the socio-economic and cultural development of the country, and for exemplary fulfillment of military and official duties. Among the award recipients was Banu Mukataykyzy Narbekova, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at Abai University.
During the ceremonial event held at Akorda in honor of one of the most special and warm spring holidays – International Women’s Day – the Head of State congratulated all women of Kazakhstan and began his speech with heartfelt wishes.
“First of all, I sincerely congratulate all of you on the beautiful spring holiday – International Women’s Day! This holiday is a symbol of kindness and warmth, wisdom and beauty. A woman is the foundation of life and the source of prosperity. This is the truth. The heart of a woman, who has ‘rocked both the cradle and the world,’ is the home of kindness. Therefore, it is fair to say that respect for women is respect for the nation. Today, here in Akorda, I express my sincere gratitude and appreciation to you and to all women of Kazakhstan,” said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
Throughout history, our people have
honored mothers, protected sisters, and respected daughters by giving them a
place of honor. The most sacred values of our nation are associated with the
word “mother”: “Motherland,” “Mother Earth,” and “Mother Tongue.” Since ancient
times it has been said: “From the father comes guidance, from the mother comes
virtue.” This deeply meaningful tradition must continue even in today’s complex
and rapidly changing world. Fulfilling this goal is our duty to future
generations. The identity of our nation, its language, culture, and traditions
are passed on to children through a mother’s care and upbringing.
In his speech, the President also spoke about upcoming innovations and reforms in Kazakhstan, including the referendum and the new Constitution, and emphasized the important role of women in strengthening the foundations of the state.
“A Just Kazakhstan is being built by responsible, creative, educated, and hardworking citizens like you. I would like to emphasize this with great appreciation. I believe that all of you deserve the highest respect. Therefore, today I signed a decree awarding you high state honors,” said the Head of State, presenting the awards to distinguished women.
Among the recipients was Banu Narbekova, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at our university. The medal “For Labor Distinction,” awarded to her by presidential decree, recognizes her achievements in science and education.
