STUDENTS WERE URGED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE REFERENDUM
Today, on behalf of the nationwide coalition "For the People's Constitution of a Just and Progressive Kazakhstan!", Chairman of the Board – Rector of the University Bolat Tlep and Deputy of the Almaty City Maslikhat Amirjan Nabiyev met with students. The purpose of the meeting was to encourage young people to actively participate in the upcoming national referendum next week.
During the meeting, Bolat Tlep, Deputy Chairman of the Almaty branch of the nationwide coalition, emphasized that "the future development of Kazakhstan must be based on education and science." In his view, the transition from a resource-based model to an intellectual economy is a necessity of our time. Therefore, the proposed draft of the new Constitution prioritizes the development of education, science, and innovation.
"Our Constitution, adopted in 1995 following independence, was established in a completely different era, under different political and economic circumstances. At that time, it served as a foundation for strengthening our statehood. However, today's modern demands and social needs require an update of the Basic Law. These reforms are a historical step that will affect the fate of not only your generation but also future ones," said Bolat Anapiyauly, describing the upcoming political campaign as a significant milestone in the country's history.
In his turn, Amirjan Nabiyev, Deputy of the Almaty City Maslikhat, expressed that the new edition of the Constitution adapts the legal framework of the state to modern requirements and strengthens the institutions of trust between society and the government.
"The protection of human rights and the safety of citizens lie at the ideological core of the Constitution. These are the key values of a document oriented toward the interests of the people. Furthermore, the development of human capital, education, science, innovation, and intellectual potential are established as strategic priorities for national development," he stated.
During the session, the coalition members urged students to carefully study the draft of the new Constitution. They called on the youth to show unity at this crucial historical moment that defines the nation's development path and to actively participate in the national referendum.
