On February 26, 2026, a webinar titled «Inclusive Education in Higher Education: Global and Kazakhstani Experience» was held at Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University. The event was organized by the Educational and Methodological Association in the field of «Special Pedagogy» of the Republican Educational and Methodological Council (REMC) under the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The webinar was conducted in a hybrid format (offline and online).

The webinar brought together representatives of higher education institutions that are members of the Educational and Methodological Association in the field of «Special Pedagogy»,  university faculty members, master’s and doctoral students, as well as specialists from organizations working in the field of special and inclusive education in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The event was moderated by:

Akbota Autaeva – Head of the Project Team, Candidate of Psychological Sciences, Associate Professor at Abai KazNPU; Zeynep Bekbayeva – Member of the Project Team, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Acting Associate Professor at Abai KazNPU.

The webinar was opened by Zhanna Zhussupova, Academic Secretary of the RUMC, who delivered a welcoming address to the participants. A welcoming speech was also delivered by Banu Narbekova, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of Abai KazNPU, who presented a report on the model of inclusive education and training in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

During the webinar, participants discussed key issues related to the development of special and inclusive education in the higher education system, international experience and current trends, the regulatory and legal framework of inclusive education, the training of teaching staff, as well as the system of psychological and pedagogical support for students with special educational needs.

Presentations were delivered by scholars from Abai KazNPU, Kostanay Regional University named after A. Baitursynov, Aktobe Regional University named after K. Zhubanov, Karaganda Buketov University, Yessenov University, as well as practicing specialists.

The webinar served as an important professional platform for the development of scientific and pedagogical dialogue, the exchange of experience, and the discussion of current issues related to improving inclusive education in the higher education system.
