At Abai University, a meaningful meeting was held today, encouraging young people to reflect on important life values. Within the framework of the “Law and Order” principle initiated by the Head of State, the topic “The Price of Choice: Responsibility as a Sign of Maturity” was discussed. During the event, short films based on real-life stories were screened, followed by an in-depth discussion of pressing social issues.

The films presented to the audience highlighted serious threats facing young people today, including drug abuse, online fraud on social media, bullying, and violence. Each story clearly demonstrated the consequences of thoughtless decisions. The silence in the auditorium showed that the students were not merely watching the films but truly taking them to heart. These short films help develop young people’s ability to critically assess everyday situations and encourage them to take responsibility for their actions.

During the meeting, Zhanibek Shynassilov, Head of the Medeu District Police Department, engaged in an open dialogue with students about various criminal cases. Drawing on his experience in law enforcement, he noted that even a single mistake or a poorly considered decision can drastically change a person’s life path. In some cases, such mistakes are impossible to correct. According to him, any criminal act affects not only the individual but also their family, loved ones, and society as a whole.

–        Law is not merely about prohibitions; it is the foundation of stability and public safety. Every action carries responsibility. Many young people think that ‘just once won’t matter,’ but that very ‘once’ can completely change a life, impacting family, friends, and the future. We are here not to frighten you, but to warn you. Therefore, make every choice consciously and thoughtfully. Only honest work and education will lead you to success, while the easy path may end in regret, – the speaker emphasized.

After the screening, students asked questions and exchanged views with the experts. The event aimed to strengthen dialogue between young people and law enforcement agencies and to foster conscious and responsible citizens.

Today’s generation is the foundation of tomorrow’s nation. Therefore, enhancing legal awareness and fostering respect for the law is a shared responsibility of society.
