METHODOLOGICAL “DESANT LESSON” ON THE KAZAKH LANGUAGE HELD

Starting Monday, methodological “desant lessons” have been taking place at Abai University to provide professional support to future teachers. Today, scholars from the Sh. Shayakhmetov National Scientific and Practical Center “Til-Qazyna” delivered lectures. During the event, key areas of Kazakh linguistics, terminology, language innovations, and development-oriented projects were presented.

The Center’s specialists provided comprehensive explanations on Kazakh terminology, archaic vocabulary, controversial terms, and loan translations (calques). Students were particularly interested in issues related to maintaining language norms and modern projects aimed at the digitalization of terminology. These initiatives are designed to ensure consistency in the Kazakh language, systematize scientific terminology, and increase its use in the information space.

Each of the projects presented to students makes a significant contribution to the development of the Kazakh language in the digital environment. For example, the “Termincom.kz” platform comprehensively covers the history and structure of Kazakh terminology. It also contains etymological explanations of terms and collections of scholarly articles published over the years. This platform serves as a convenient tool for terminological research, academic work, and the professional development of language specialists.

Using interactive methodologies, an analysis was conducted of the “Til Qural” mobile application – the Kazakh-language equivalent of Duolingo, designed to facilitate easy language learning. In addition, an expert review was presented of the “Abai Institute” program, aimed at teaching the Kazakh language to representatives of other ethnic groups. This project contributes to increasing the popularity of the Kazakh language and strengthening its international standing.

During the meeting, the “Til-Qazyna” Center presented its initiatives ranging from the systematization of terminology to projects focused on preserving and developing the Kazakh language in the digital era through artificial intelligence. Arman Nurkenuly, a machine learning developer from the Center’s AI department, reported that a Kazakh language data hub is currently being formed within systems such as ChatGPT and Google Gemini. At the conclusion of the event, the Center’s representative, Liza Kozhakkyzy, proposed signing a memorandum and developing cooperation with students and faculty to implement joint projects.

The methodological “desant lesson” served as an effective platform for showcasing large-scale efforts aimed at the development and promotion of the Kazakh language. Students became familiar with the Center’s projects and new technological tools, gaining valuable practical experience.

The outcomes of the meeting provided important experience for future language specialists, and the Center’s initiatives will undoubtedly make a significant contribution to the continued development of the Kazakh language.
