ROUNDTABLE HELD ON THE "LAW AND ORDER" PRINCIPLE
Abai University hosted a roundtable on “Law and Order – The Foundation of a Just Society.” The event was attended by Chief of Staff of the Almaty City Police Department, Police Colonel Ayzhan Ramieva, Head of the Department of Information Policy of the Almaty City Police Department, Police Colonel Saltanat Әzірbek, university leadership, and students of the “Law” program.
The faculty dean, Professor Ғabit Kenzhebayev, opened the session, quoting Bauyrzhan Momyshuly: “One who obeys discipline will never become a slave.” He emphasized that during the period of constitutional reforms, enhancing the legal literacy and legal culture of youth is a key factor for the country’s development.
Law enforcement representatives noted that maintaining public order is a collaborative effort with society. The police are not a punitive institution; first and foremost, they serve the people and ensure public safety. Police Colonel Ayzhan Mukhambetbayeva stressed the importance of strengthening mutual trust and cooperation between the community and law enforcement agencies.
Saltanat Қuanyshbayeva, Head of the Information Policy Department of the Almaty City Police, spoke about the “Law and Order” principle, highlighting that law compliance is a shared responsibility of all citizens. She noted that serving people with honesty and dedication is a noble and responsible path. “A person must first be honest with themselves. Only those who come by the call of the heart remain in this service. Working alongside colleagues who are honest and committed to their work is always a great honor,” said S. Әzірbek, encouraging students to consider careers in law enforcement.
During the roundtable, students asked questions and discussed various legal situations. Experts provided guidance on combining academic knowledge with practical skills and developing one’s potential in the legal field. The enhancement of the curriculum to meet modern needs was also discussed. In particular, the introduction of courses on technological programming, cybercrime prevention, and communication skills development was proposed.
A modern law enforcement officer must be a qualified professional, proficient in contemporary technologies, capable of critical thinking, and able to establish effective communication with society.
At the end of the event, students took group photos with the guests and expressed their gratitude for sharing valuable experience and insights.
