THE KEY PRIORITY IS TO ENHANCE THE QUALITY OF RESEARCH
Today, a meeting was held at Абай университеті between
Chairman of the Board – Rector Bolat Tilep and first-year PhD doctoral
students. The discussion focused on training research personnel, improving the
quality of research, increasing international publication activity, and other
relevant issues. Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation Ertay Sultan explained
the key responsibilities assigned to doctoral students.
Strengthening the university’s research capacity,
clarifying challenges related to doctoral research, and implementing systematic
solutions are among today’s main priorities. The meeting with first-year
doctoral students was organized in an open discussion format, addressing
responsibility and standards in academic work.
– You did not choose Abai University by chance,
as it has a deep-rooted history. For us, academic integrity, responsibility in
research, and meeting expectations are core values. We have set a goal to
transform into a research university. Therefore, arguments presented in
scholarly work must be original and highly significant – the Rector noted.
Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation Ertay Sultan
elaborated on dissertation topics, publication performance indicators, and the
legal requirements set by the Ministry and the University. He also explained
the mechanisms for publishing articles in indexed international and national
journals.
– My review article
has been accepted by a Q1 journal of Taylor & Francis. My academic
supervisor provides consistent support throughout the research process. My
international research advisor also highly appreciates the level of research
conducted at Abai University. I would like to share my experience with
colleagues here. At present, it is especially important for doctoral students
to conduct integrative research and exchange experience, – said first-year doctoral student Aidana Sarsenbekkyzy of the
“Teacher Training in Natural Sciences” educational program.
She called on all doctoral students to collaborate
across disciplines rather than working in isolation. Instead of adopting
secondary foreign trends, she emphasized the importance of presenting the
unique innovations of Kazakhstan to the global academic community as one of the
most effective ways for doctoral students to integrate into the international
research space.
The path of science is not an easy one; it is pursued
only by those willing to take on serious challenges. Today’s meeting appeared
to reinforce this understanding among future Doctors of Philosophy.
