STUDENTS MET WITH SPORTS CHAMPIONS

Today, Abai University hosted a meeting with well-known national athletes under the theme “Strong Spirit – Strong Nation.” The event was attended by Olympic champion Bakyt Sarsekbayev, Kazakhstan’s Greco-Roman wrestling champion Almat Kebispayev, and professional boxer Aidos Yerbossynuly. The guests shared the challenges and achievements of their sporting careers, inspiring the youth.

For young people, the life journey of the older generation is a true school of experience. Although the podium of success may look bright and glamorous from the outside, it is built on relentless hard work, iron discipline, and unwavering endurance. The speakers emphasized the importance of resilience and determination, highlighting the unseen difficulties on the road to victory. Students asked questions and engaged in an open and sincere dialogue that strengthened their motivation.

International Master of Sports in boxing and Olympic champion Bakyt Sarsekbayev noted that everyone has their own path, and regardless of the field they choose, they should strive to be the best. “Sport is also an art. In art, victory and defeat go hand in hand. The main thing is not to break. A person with sincere determination will conquer any height they aspire to,” said the champion, leaving a strong impression on the young athletes.

Greco-Roman wrestling master Almat Kebispayev подчеркнул that the greatest lesson of sport is to remain humble in victory and resilient in defeat, always moving forward. He stressed the importance of continuous self-improvement and systematic training, quoting a Kazakh proverb: “Knowledge is like digging a well with a needle,” to illustrate the value of perseverance.

During the meeting, students and athletes held a meaningful discussion and spoke openly. Young athletes gained valuable insight from those who have proudly represented the country on the international stage. The champions, in turn, admitted that they saw reflections of their own youth in the passionate eyes of the students.

At the end of the event, professional boxer Aidos Yerbossynuly performed a song accompanied by the dombra, adding a heartfelt and cultural touch to the gathering. Vice-Rector for Social Development Maksat Zhakau expressed gratitude to the guests and noted their significant contribution to students’ personal growth.

“There is a saying: ‘One day spent with a good person is equal to a lifetime spent with a bad one.’ Today’s meeting clearly proved this. We did not even notice how quickly the time passed. I sincerely thank you for this meaningful dialogue. By sharing your experience on the path to victory, you have inspired the hearts of future champions,” the Vice-Rector said.

It is worth noting that student-athletes study at the Faculty of Physical Education and Initial Military Training of Abai University. Last year, students won 115 gold, 76 silver, and 75 bronze medals at national and international competitions.

Today’s meeting became a strong source of motivation for young athletes, inspiring them to achieve new victories.
