A LYRICAL EVENING WITH POET KASSYMKHAN BEGMANOV TOOK PLACE

Today, Abai University hosted a song-and-poetry evening titled «Letter to Spring» featuring poet, journalist, ethnographer, and Honored Worker of Kazakhstan Kassymkhan Begmanov. Organized within the framework of the «Adal Azamat» project, the meaningful event offered students an open dialogue with the writer, who shared heartfelt reflections through poetry and song. The spiritual gathering, imbued with the breath of spring, enhanced students’ interest in literature and became a platform for engaging discussion.

Kassymkhan Begmanov is a prominent representative of Kazakh spirituality who has masterfully intertwined poetry and history, emotion and intellect. For nearly half a century, he has worked productively in the fields of literature and journalism, making a significant contribution to preserving national heritage and promoting spiritual values. The poet’s lyrical works have resonated with generations of readers, particularly harmonizing with the inner world of young people. The university’s creative youth warmly welcomed the distinguished guest, filling the evening with sincere respect and heartfelt admiration.

– Today’s event is dedicated to you, the youth. This evening, we will read verses about love that soothe your longing for spring. I am glad to meet you. Ask your questions, and let us have an open and heartfelt conversation, – the poet shared openly. His words set the tone for the evening and encouraged a free and friendly exchange.

During the event, talented university students performed the well-known songs «Тhat Spring Will Not Return» and «Happy with You», lifting the audience’s spirits. Members of the Orazaly Dosbosynov Young Poets Center recited heartfelt verses dedicated to the poet. Renowned academics, poets, writers, and journalists of the republic attended as honored guests, witnessing an evening that carried forward the golden thread of literature and art.

As part of the program, Shaba Adenkulkyzy performed Begmanov’s songs «You Were My Dream» and «My Voice Will Also Be Heard» with great expression. Young singer Zhaksbek Kalelbek performed «The Girls I Loved», while «My Unfulfilled Fate», performed by Aksunkar Akynbabaqyzy, filled the audience with delicate melancholy, immersing the hall in thoughtful silence.

The evening concluded with a sincere conversation and a lively dialogue between the poet and the students. In response to the heartfelt question, «What is love?» the poet’s reflections deeply moved the young audience, once again affirming that love remains an eternal theme. A profound question was also raised about the history of «Melancholic Turkestan», to which the poet-researcher responded with thoughtful insights, connecting past and present.

The romantic evening, where melody and poetry intertwined, not only answered students’ questions but also broadened their spiritual horizons and strengthened their appreciation for literature. This meaningful gathering, which touched the most delicate strings of the heart, brought warmth to souls and light to minds.
