ISSUES OF SCIENTIFIC DEVELOPMENT DISCUSSED

A working meeting aimed at enhancing scientific capacity and addressing key issues in the field of research was held at Abai University. The discussion focused on dissertation research, the implementation of scientific projects, and the development of academic journals.


Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation at Abai University, Yertai Sultan, highlighted the work of dissertation councils and emphasized the importance of rigorous quality control over the research conducted by PhD doctoral candidates. He stressed the need to ensure that dissertations meet both technical and substantive requirements and are defended in a timely manner. Plans were also outlined to establish dissertation councils in several scientific fields, with their objectives and potential clearly defined.


The meeting also addressed the utilization of internal research grants allocated to support and develop scientific activities at the university. Particular attention was given to the effective use of grant funding for projects led by young researchers and faculty members, and a number of practical proposals were put forward.


In addition, measures were discussed to further develop the university’s academic journals, strengthen editorial boards, improve publication quality, and enhance overall research capacity. As part of Abai University’s strategic development agenda, issues related to improving the performance of research laboratories and ensuring their accreditation were also considered.


During the meeting, a wide range of research-related topics was discussed, and an action plan aimed at strengthening the university’s scientific potential was reviewed. Going forward, Abai University will continue efforts to expand the scope of research activities, strengthen international cooperation, and increase the volume of grant funding.
