ACADEMIC COUNCIL HOLDS EXPANDED MEETING

An expanded meeting of the Academic Council was held at Abai University. During the session, the new qualification requirements for higher education institutions were thoroughly explained, and key issues were discussed, including the improvement of educational activities, adaptation to national ranking standards, enhancement of the effectiveness of pedagogical practice, and strengthening of academic integrity principles.

In the modern higher education system, quality teaching is not limited to updating curricula alone. Fostering a culture of honesty, responsibility, and fair assessment within the academic environment is one of the university’s key indicators of institutional development. In this context, academic integrity is considered a fundamental principle that ensures students’ independent research, the genuine completion of scholarly work, and adherence to professional ethics.

The Academic Council, which defines the university’s strategic development direction, serves as the main collegial governing body that systematically coordinates educational and scientific policies and makes decisions affecting the quality of education. The primary goal of the expanded meeting was to discuss current changes in the academic process and to strengthen the practical orientation of the university’s work.

During the meeting, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Banu Narbekova highlighted ongoing innovations and provided a detailed explanation of the new qualification requirements for higher education institutions. She emphasized that in the era of artificial intelligence, the expectations for instructors’ professional competence and academic responsibility are steadily increasing.

The session also focused on the importance of improving the university’s educational performance in accordance with the national ranking system. The enhancement of pedagogical practice content and the quality of students’ research work were discussed in detail. Particular attention was given to the effectiveness of conducting the experimental component of graduation projects during pedagogical practice, as well as the potential of the “Action Research” method in developing professional competencies among future specialists. This approach allows students to conduct research in real practical settings, analyze problems, and make informed decisions.

At the conclusion of the meeting, participants discussed measures to improve the quality of education, foster a culture of academic integrity, and modernize pedagogical practice, and they shared their proposals.
