An official delegation from France visited Abai University. The delegation included Frédéric Castel, Deputy Director for International Relations at INSPE of the Reims Academy; Sophie Howordine, Professor at the University of Reims Champagne–Ardenne; and Agnès Busse, Coordinator of Dual-Degree Programs at the Embassy of France in the Republic of Kazakhstan. The purpose of the visit was to strengthen international cooperation between Abai University and the University of Reims Champagne–Ardenne.

During the meeting, the leadership of Abai University presented the history of Kazakhstan’s first higher education institution, its educational programs, performance indicators, and rankings. The discussion also focused on opportunities for developing joint projects between the two universities. Both parties expressed interest in deepening cooperation in research and in exchanging teaching methodologies to improve the quality of French language education for Kazakhstani students. Frédéric Castel highlighted that the French university is ready to share its experience as a partner and emphasized that a research-based approach to the educational process forms the foundation of their cooperation.

With growing interest in the French language in Kazakhstan and increasing demand for French language teachers, Professor Sophie Howordine noted that the partnership between the two universities not only contributes to improving the quality of education but also promotes intercultural communication. She praised Abai University’s experience and expressed her appreciation for the high motivation of Kazakhstani students to learn French.

The role of the Sorbonne–Kazakhstan Institute was also highlighted during the bilateral meeting. The Institute has played a significant role in strengthening cooperation between Kazakhstan and France in higher education, serving as an effective platform for dialogue.

Currently, 20 students from Abai University are studying at the University of Reims Champagne–Ardenne under the academic mobility program. Such programs provide a strong impetus for the development of educational ties between Kazakhstan and France. Abai University expressed its gratitude to the partner university and the French Embassy for supporting this academic exchange.
