SPARTAKIAD HELD AMONG INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Today, Abai University hosted a Spartakiad among international students. Within the walls of the university, students from different countries competed in various sports disciplines. At the sporting event aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle, Vice-Rector for Social Development Maksat Zhakau delivered a welcoming speech and wished the participants success. International students from all faculties took an active part in the competitions.

 

The annual traditional Spartakiad was held at the M. Auezov Sports Complex. Participants competed in the Kazakh national sport of tug of war, as well as in volleyball. This large-scale event is aimed at strengthening unity and solidarity among students and encouraging a healthy lifestyle. Vice-Rector for Social Development of Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, Maksat Zhakau, wished the participants success and expressed confidence that they would demonstrate excellent performance.

 

“Traditionally, the next round of the Spartakiad is being organized among international students. Within the framework of the winter holidays, it aims to ensure the effective use of students’ free time and to increase their interest in sports. Our mission is to train highly educated specialists who lead a healthy lifestyle and possess a high level of culture. Therefore, I wish all participants success in the sports competitions,” said the Vice-Rector.

 

According to the results of the tug-of-war competition, first place was taken by the team of international students from the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Geography. Students of the Faculty of Physical Education and Initial Military Training secured second place, while third place went to the Faculty of History and Law.

 

In the volleyball competition, first place was won by the Faculty of Physical Education and Initial Military Training (50,000 tenge), second place went to the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Geography (40,000 tenge), and the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics, and Informatics completed the top three (30,000 tenge).

 

In addition, winners were determined among the Spartakiad participants in the nominations “Best Player,” “Best Effort,” “Best Leader,” and “Best Player,” and they were awarded cash prizes.
