ISSUES OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE DEVELOPMENT WERE DISCUSSED
Bolat Tlep, Chairman of the Board and Rector of Abai KazNPU, held an open format meeting today with the faculty and teaching staff of the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics and the Faculty of Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence. During the meeting, the performance and achievements of the faculties in educational activities were evaluated.
The open dialogue session aimed to directly hear the initiatives and proposals of faculty members and staff, as well as to jointly address pressing issues. The primary goal is to work together toward the university's strategic development and improve its academic and infrastructural conditions.
During the meeting, an intra-faculty roadmap dedicated to the educational institution's upcoming centennial anniversary was presented. The management emphasized that this milestone should mark a new phase of qualitative changes. Additionally, the specific features and key issues of each faculty were examined. For instance, regarding the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, needs related to information technology and the formation of classroom facilities were addressed, while for the Faculty of Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence, discussions focused on attracting prospective students and developing new educational programs related to AI.
The university administration stated that special priority is being given to the dynamic development of the Faculty of Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence, with a strong focus on enhancing its strategic potential. In the near future, large-scale efforts will be undertaken in three key strategic directions that will define the development of this faculty.
First and foremost, the university aims to strengthen partnerships with top foreign universities by launching international dual-degree educational programs. This will allow students to gain academic experience from leading global institutions and earn dual degrees. Second, active work is underway to launch a modern, fully equipped Artificial Intelligence Laboratory and foster scientific innovations within the faculty. This research center will serve as a solid platform for students and young researchers to implement breakthrough IT projects and commercialize domestic scientific products. Third, in line with the university's mission, innovative methodologies will be developed to effectively integrate artificial intelligence technologies into the pedagogical process.
Bolat Anapiyauly emphasized that alongside academic studies, great importance should be placed on students' involvement in community activities and personal creativity. He highlighted the need to encourage youth creativity and expand cultural leisure areas, such as coworking spaces. Accordingly, further enhancing the infrastructure was identified as an important agenda item.
During the session, the faculty members asked various questions and suggested paying special attention to the educational institution's material base. All expressed proposals and feedback were taken into consideration, and specific tasks were assigned to the heads of the relevant departments.
