WINNERS OF THE REPUBLICAN RESEARCH COMPETITION HONOURED

Today, Abai University hosted an award ceremony for the winners of the Republican Research Competition among undergraduate and master’s students. The competition brought together 149 young researchers from 25 higher education institutions across the country, while 51 experts evaluated their research projects. Ertai Sultan, Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation, presented awards to 39 Abai University students who achieved outstanding results.

The Republican Research Competition is traditionally organised across various educational programmes. This year, competitions in 14 educational programmes were held at Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University. Overall, nearly 150 young researchers from 25 higher education institutions in Kazakhstan applied to participate. Master’s students submitted 100 research papers, while undergraduate students presented 49 projects. As a result, 80 participants whose work was recognised as the best received first-, second- and third-degree diplomas from Sayasat Nurbek, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

A total of 39 young researchers from Abai University were among the winners: 16 received third-degree diplomas, 13 were awarded second-degree diplomas, and 10 earned first-degree diplomas. Ertai Sultan, Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation, congratulated the aspiring scholars who had enhanced the University’s reputation at the national level. In his remarks, he highlighted the importance of research conducted by undergraduate and master’s students and encouraged young scholars to work with perseverance as they pursue their scientific careers.

It should be noted that becoming a research university by 2029 is one of the key missions of Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University. The University provides extensive opportunities for its students not only to acquire academic knowledge but also to take their first steps in research. It annually organises the University-wide “Zhas Kasipker” start-up project competition, the “Zhas Galym” research project competition, and the “Best Student Research Organisation” competition. Such initiatives enable students to bring their innovative ideas to life and further develop their research projects.
