Today, an international seminar entitled “Modern Approaches to French Language Teaching” was held at the Sorbonne-Kazakhstan Institute. The event aimed to explore best practices in foreign language teaching and highlight the importance of innovative methods in the educational process. As part of the seminar, graduates of Abai University’s dual-degree programme were awarded diplomas from the University of Lorraine, France.

In today’s world, multilingual proficiency, alongside professional competencies, has become an essential requirement. Foreign language skills enable people to communicate across cultures, participate in international projects and expand their professional opportunities. In this regard, the Sorbonne-Kazakhstan Institute places particular emphasis on training specialists with a strong command of both French and English. During the seminar, foreign language teaching methodologies were discussed in the context of best practices adopted by leading universities worldwide.

The event was attended by Sébastien de Courtois, Counsellor for Cooperation and Cultural Affairs at the Embassy of France in the Republic of Kazakhstan; Agnès Bousset, an official representative of the diplomatic mission; and Stéphane Motte, Vice-President for International Policy at the University of Poitiers. During the seminar, Zhanibek Askerbek and Aisha Aisina, graduates of Abai University’s dual-degree programme in International Law, received diplomas from the University of Lorraine. This achievement reflects a partnership aimed at strengthening educational and scientific ties between the two countries.

The University of Poitiers is one of Abai University’s strategic partners. The two institutions have been implementing joint educational projects for many years. Through this cooperation, the number of specialists successfully completing dual-degree programmes continues to grow each year, while the training of professionals in line with international standards is steadily advancing.

The partnership creates new professional and research opportunities not only for students but also for academic staff. Through academic mobility programmes, faculty members exchange expertise, contribute to the introduction of modern teaching methods and participate in joint research projects.
