Today, the «Taza Qazaqstan» eco-week kicked off at Abai University. Nearly a thousand student volunteers from the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics and the Faculty of Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence gave a dynamic start to the initiative. About 10,000 students across the university are expected to participate in the campaign running from October 27 to 30.

The primary goal of this key ecological initiative is to raise youth responsibility toward nature, society, and their own future, as well as to foster an environmental culture and care within the student community.

During the cleanup, the younger generation learns to respect the environment, appreciate the hard work of sanitation staff, and adopt beneficial eco-habits such as daily waste sorting. Furthermore, the campaign aims to boost civic engagement and patriotism among young people. By putting their campus, streets, and city in order, students directly contribute to the prosperity and cleanliness of their homeland.

Shokan Askerbek, a first-year student at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics who got active on the very first day, noted that the nation's environmental cleanliness begins with keeping one's own university clean.

«First and foremost, contributing to our country's ecology is an important duty to the nation for every individual. It begins right at home and at the educational institution where we study. We consider keeping this place clean, avoiding littering, and protecting the environment to be our sacred duty, » the student said.

As part of the campaign, student volunteers cleared fallen leaves and collected litter at Abai University's academic campus located at 86 Tole Bi Street, Almaty. Additionally, informational sessions were conducted to explain effective waste sorting and recycling practices under the "Paper, Plastic, Glass, Metal" framework.

In the coming days, the eco-week will continue at the Faculty of History and Law, the Faculty of Physical Education and Initial Military Training, and will culminate at the Main Building campus.
