ABAI UNIVERSITY HOSTS CEREMONY DEDICATED TO REPUBLIC DAY

Today, Abai University hosted “My Republic”, a ceremony dedicated to Republic Day — a national holiday that celebrates the greatness of the nation and strengthens the spirit of statehood. The event, highlighting national unity and solidarity, brought together the University’s leadership, faculty members, veteran educators and active students. Scholars who have made significant contributions to the country’s scientific, cultural and intellectual development received ministerial and university awards.

Every nation has historic milestones that shape its destiny and lay the foundations of its statehood. For the people of Kazakhstan, 25 October 1990 was such a momentous date. The Declaration on the State Sovereignty of the Kazakh SSR, adopted on that day, laid the foundation for Kazakhstan’s development as an independent state. Republic Day is more than a date on the calendar. It marks the historic moment when our ancestors’ centuries-old dream of freedom became a reality and the flag of our sovereignty rose beneath the blue sky.

Speaking at the “My Republic” ceremony, Bolat Tilep, Chair of the Management Board and Rector of Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, congratulated the guests on the national holiday and highlighted its historical significance.

“Republic Day is a celebration that embodies the spirit of independent statehood, the triumph of free thought and the enduring importance of national interests. It is a meaningful occasion to reflect on our past, appreciate our present and determine our future. Sovereignty is the dream cherished by our ancestors, a legacy to be safeguarded by the present generation and a responsibility to be passed on to future generations. In today’s rapidly evolving world, Kazakhstan places its hopes in an educated, highly skilled and patriotic generation. The education system, and the teaching community in particular, has a special mission in strengthening the ideals of statehood and independence. As the country’s first institution of higher education, Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University has always recognised its responsibility in pursuing this great national goal,” Bolat Anapiyauly said.

Zhenisbek Tolen, Head of the Centre for Education and Social Development of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, then delivered a congratulatory address. He presented Bolat Anapiyauly, Chair of the Management Board and Rector of Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, with the commemorative medal marking the 80th anniversary of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Shildebayev Zhumadil Baidildauly, Research Professor at the Department of Biology, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences and Professor, received the Qanysh Satbayev Badge, a departmental award presented to leading scholars who have made significant contributions to the advancement of national science.

Education and science play a vital role in strengthening the independence and advancing the development of our country. The ceremony therefore provided an opportunity to recognise the significant achievements of the Abai University community. Awards from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Abai University were presented to scholars who have made substantial contributions to education and science, as well as to staff members distinguished by their active public engagement.

The ceremony continued with a festive concert programme prepared by the University’s creative performers and talented students. The event concluded with a musical performance by special guest and popular singer Nurzhan Kalzhan.
