CERTIFICATES AWARDED TO LECTURERS PROFICIENT IN ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

Today, Abai University awarded certificates to 46 lecturers who completed the course “Digital Tools for Educators: Abai Digital and Microsoft 365,” designed to develop their skills in artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technologies. The programme aimed to enhance lecturers’ digital literacy, promote the effective use of modern technologies in their professional activities, and introduce new tools into the educational process. The course was delivered by the university’s specialists and Daniyar Zhumabekov, Microsoft’s Education Development Lead for Central Asia and Pakistan.

During the programme, participants explored the capabilities of the Abai Digital platform, learned to work with Microsoft 365 tools, and developed skills in creating learning materials and organising the educational process. Practical sessions demonstrated how digital services can be integrated into everyday teaching activities.

One of the key areas of the course was artificial intelligence. Lecturers explored the capabilities of tools such as ChatGPT, including features that are often overlooked by professionals. They learned how to use AI to develop lesson plans, prepare learning materials, design assignments, and organise information. These technologies can help save time, streamline daily tasks, and improve educational content. Particular attention was also paid to critically evaluating AI-generated outputs, verifying the accuracy of information, and upholding the principles of academic integrity. Theoretical knowledge was complemented by practical assignments, enabling participants to test new services in realistic professional scenarios.

“The course was highly informative, and I particularly enjoyed its practical approach. I believe the knowledge and skills I have gained will be very useful in my day-to-day professional activities. The course has helped enhance lecturers’ digital competencies,” said Orken Imangali, PhD, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Kazakh Literature and Teaching Methods named after Academician S. Kirabayev.

Throughout the course, participants acquired new knowledge and practical skills in using the Abai Digital and Microsoft 365 platforms, digitising the educational process, collaborating on documents online, and applying artificial intelligence tools. They also explored ways to use Microsoft 365 applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Forms, more effectively in an online environment. In addition, participants were introduced to the capabilities of Copilot AI and developed collaborative working skills using the Teams platform. The knowledge and skills gained are expected to bring fresh momentum to their everyday professional practice.

Abai University places particular emphasis on adopting new technologies to improve the quality of education and strengthen the professional competencies of its academic staff. Initiatives in this area will not only contribute to the development of the university’s digital learning environment but also create further opportunities for lecturers and students to grow in line with modern educational requirements.
