Today, a regular meeting of the Scientific Council was held at Abai University. The meeting addressed issues regarding enhancing educational quality, advancing research activities, upgrading the university’s digital infrastructure, and effectively organizing academic processes.

The agenda included the modernization of pedagogical education, the training of scientific personnel, improving the university’s performance in national rankings, and efforts toward digital transformation. Banu Narbekova, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, delivered a report on the implementation directions of the pedagogical education concept, presenting priority tasks and strategies for their execution. During the presentation, special attention was given to improving the pedagogical education system and increasing the efficiency of academic activities.

Ertay Sultan, Vice-Rector for Research Activities and Innovation, presented key topics related to the research work of master's and doctoral students. Dissertation topics and research advisors for first-year master's students were approved, as well as domestic and foreign scientific consultants for PhD candidates. Furthermore, the outcomes of the work carried out under the "National Ranking of HEIs" project by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan were analyzed, and upcoming objectives were discussed. The university's digital readiness for the 2026–2027 academic year and the outcomes of developing the "Abai Digital" system were also raised on the meeting's agenda.

In addition, various matters were reviewed, such as making amendments to the composition of dissertation councils, considering nominees for the Scholarship of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and approving monographs, study guides, and textbooks for publication. Appropriate decisions were made for each agenda topic, accompanied by comments and recommendations for specific areas.

One of the highlights of the meeting was the degree conferral ceremony for doctoral students who successfully defended their research papers. Zhanar Saurykova (specialty 6D011400 – "History") and Erlanbek Zhalmagambetov (specialty 6D020300 – "History") received their documents confirming their PhD degrees directly from the Chairman of the Board – Rector.
