COOPERATION BETWEEN ABAI UNIVERSITY AND FUDAN UNIVERSITY TO BE FURTHER STRENGTHENED

Abai University held an official meeting with representatives of Fudan University, one of China’s leading higher education institutions. The main objective of the meeting was to strengthen academic and scientific ties between the two universities, develop joint educational projects, and explore new opportunities for international cooperation.

During the meeting, special attention was paid to one of the key areas of the partnership: artificial intelligence and the digital transformation of teacher education. In particular, the parties discussed the possibility of establishing a joint research laboratory focused on artificial intelligence in education, developing digital educational resources, and implementing professional development programmes for teaching staff. The importance of integrating artificial intelligence into the teaching of mathematics, natural sciences, languages, and pedagogical disciplines was also highlighted.

Today, partnership has become an important priority at all levels, from general education schools to national governments. Joint initiatives between higher education institutions offer substantial benefits to both parties. They can enhance universities’ international rankings and contribute to the training of highly qualified specialists who are in demand in the labour market.

The meeting also featured discussions on expanding academic mobility, developing research programmes for master’s and doctoral students, and exploring opportunities for dual-degree programmes.

Strengthening the partnership between Abai University and Fudan University will help reinforce international academic ties, enhance research capacity, and promote innovation in education. The parties’ joint initiatives are aimed at improving the quality of teacher education and integrating international best practices into the national education system.

Speaking at the meeting, Banu Narbekova, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, highlighted the issues under discussion and emphasised the need to appoint a dedicated person responsible for coordinating these efforts. The Chinese delegation, in turn, noted that government support would facilitate the implementation of joint initiatives and help the parties achieve more by working together.

Fudan University is one of China’s leading higher education institutions, founded in 1905 in Shanghai. It is a member of the C9 League, an association of China’s prestigious universities. For example, it ranked 30th worldwide in the QS World University Rankings 2026 and 36th in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2026.

The partnership between the two universities began in 2024. The roadmap outlines several key areas of collaboration in line with the established objectives.
