In addition, it ranks among the world’s top 301–400 universities in the 2025 Shanghai Ranking (ARWU).

The Chinese delegation included scientists and faculty members led by Lin Jinqiang, Secretary of the Party Committee and First Deputy Director of the Administrative Committee of the Xiamen campus. Abai University was represented by Erkin Nursagatkyzy, Director of the Department of Academic Affairs; Aidyn Toktasynuly, Head of the Department of Art Education; and Aida Zhandoskyzy, a specialist interpreter of Chinese.

During the meeting, priority was given to developing a joint master’s degree program in the “2+0” format. The areas covered included improving the professional qualifications of teaching staff, exchanging pedagogical and managerial experience, and involving specialists from the partner institution in academic supervision. Within the framework of scientific cooperation, the parties also discussed conducting joint research and publishing its results in academic journals.

As part of the partnership in art and design, the parties discussed establishing a joint Kazakhstan–China practical training base for art education, as well as opportunities for Abai University students in the arts to complete professional internships at the Xiamen Institute of Art and Design. The institute’s expertise in painting, sculpture, decorative and applied arts, visual communication, and digital media art was considered in terms of developing joint educational and creative projects.

It should be noted that the memorandum will undoubtedly serve as a foundation for the systematic development of cooperation between the two sides in education, science, art, and design.
