UNIVERSITY TO TEACH SCHOOLS HOW TO USE ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE TOOLS
The national secondary education system has received another piece of good
news on October 5, Teachers’ Day, with a new achievement for Abai University, a
leading institution in teacher training. Educational programs developed by the
university’s teaching and academic staff have been included in the register of
the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
This is evidence of the university’s high-quality work in the areas of
artificial intelligence, “Ai-Sana,” and digitalization. Moreover, this positive
news on the eve of Teachers’ Day undoubtedly demonstrates the significant
contribution that Abai University researchers are making to the professional
development of teachers across the country.
As a reminder, between 2024 and 2026, the university’s teaching and
academic staff developed 53 professional development course programs for
employees of general education schools, special education organizations, and
technical and vocational education institutions. The programs underwent expert
evaluation by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan and were
included in the relevant register. Based on these programs, professional
development courses for school teachers have been organized, with certificates
awarded to participants.
This academic year, the register of the Ministry of Education of the
Republic of Kazakhstan has been expanded to include new programs developed by
Abai University. Among them are the courses “The Teacher as a Researcher:
Effective Teacher Transformation Based on Action Research”, developed in Kazakh
and Russian by Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor A. E. Berikhanova, and
“Artificial Intelligence – A New Tool for Education,” developed by Candidate of
Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor N. T. Oshanova, and Master’s degree
holder, Senior Lecturer P. B. Seisenbekova.
In addition, the Russian-language course “Applied Behavior Analysis for
Autism Spectrum Disorders,” developed by Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences,
Associate Professor G. A. Abayeva and Professor Z. Kamar, has also been added
to the register.
These programs are aimed at developing the modern research culture required
of today’s teachers, their ability to effectively use artificial intelligence
tools, and professional skills for working with children with special
educational needs. A key feature of the programs is that they go beyond
providing theoretical knowledge about artificial intelligence and focus on its
practical application in the classroom. This enables teachers to become not
merely users of technology, but professionals capable of effectively
integrating it into their educational objectives.
Indeed, the future of schools lies not in technology itself, but in the
hands of teachers who can use that technology effectively to achieve
educational and developmental goals. Therefore, as teachers embrace modern
approaches and schools continue to transform, the future of society will
inevitably evolve as well.
