On October 1, 2026, the scientific and practical event «Mind Help: A Model of Operational Psychological Support» was held at the Narxoz University, JSC.

The main goal of the event was to discuss effective models of psychological support in higher education institutions, to improve the practice of providing operational psychological assistance to students, to exchange professional experience in the field of crisis prevention, and to strengthen professional cooperation between the psychological services of universities in the city of Almaty.

Representatives from the Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University took part in the event: the head of the Psychological Support Service, S. Kosbay, and psychologist A. Zhusupekova.

The first part of the event was devoted to a scientific and practical seminar on the topic «Suicidal behavior in adolescents and adults: early detection, crisis psychological assistance, and prevention». The seminar was conducted by Sergey Sklyar, Candidate of Medical Sciences, a doctor of the highest category, and a psychotherapist. During the seminar, the main risk factors for suicidal behavior in adolescents and adults, early detection of crisis states, recognition of signs of suicidal risk, algorithms for providing crisis psychological assistance, and modern approaches to preventive work were discussed. Furthermore, the specifics of how psychological service specialists handle complex cases, the interaction between specialists, and issues related to referring clients for medical and psychotherapeutic assistance when necessary were discussed. An important feature of the seminar was its focus on combining theoretical knowledge with practical experience. The participants exchanged views on analyzing specific professional situations, the algorithms for a specialist’s actions in crisis conditions, and effective methods of psychological work with students. The second part of the event was organized in the Psycho Express format, during which operational psychological consultations were conducted for students of Narxoz University. This format allowed students to discuss their psychological difficulties with a specialist in a short‑term, accessible, and professional format, while psychologists were able to study the students’ current needs in practice.

The main value of the «Mind Help: Model of Prompt Psychological Support» format lies in simplifying students’ access to psychological help and providing timely support from a specialist when necessary.

The participation of the Psychological Support Service of KazNPU named after Abay in this event is a continuation of the university’s systematic work in the areas of maintaining mental health, preventing suicidal behavior, providing early psychological support, and exchanging experience with the professional community.

Such scientific and practical meetings contribute to strengthening professional cooperation between universities, improving the quality of psychological support, and creating a safe and supportive educational environment for students.
