Guest Lecture within the Framework of the “Theory of Literature” Course
On September 30, 2026, a guest lecture was organized for second-year students within the framework of the “Theory of Literature” course on the initiative of G. Tokshylykqyzy and Zh. Ashirova, lecturers of the S. Kirabayev Department of Kazakh Literature and Teaching Methodology at Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University.
The open lecture was delivered by Erkinkul Molotovna Soltanaeva, Associate Professor of the Department of Kazakh Literature and Literary Theory at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and Candidate of Philological Sciences.
The central concept of the lecture was the inseparable synthesis of time and space in a literary work, that is, the process based on the “condensation of time in space, the subordination of space to time, and the representation and disclosure of time through space.” The lecture was meaningful, informative, and rich in theoretical content.
To enhance the interactive nature of the session, an express training activity was conducted to explain and demonstrate the intersection of time and space in a literary work. This practical component made the lecture more engaging and effective.
Throughout the lecture, students acquired new theoretical insights and came to understand that the category of chronotope is not merely a scholarly term, but also an important key to reading and interpreting a literary text.
The Head of the Department, PhD Sh. Kuttybayev, together with department lecturers G. Karimova, S. Syzdykov, and A. Baibol, expressed their gratitude to Erkinkul Molotovna Soltanaeva for her insightful lecture addressing profound issues in literary studies and wished her continued creative success.
The department’s efforts aimed at strengthening interuniversity cooperation and expanding students’ educational trajectories will continue in the future.
