Mother Tongue: A National Value Connecting Generations

Mother Tongue: A National Value Connecting Generations

On 23 September 2026, a session titled “Mother Tongue: A Pillar of the Nation” was held for first-year students of the Primary Education (IP) programme under the guidance of their group advisor, S.B. Zhorayeva.

The session aimed to foster students’ respect and love for their mother tongue, deepen their understanding of the Kazakh language as a national value, and encourage a sense of civic responsibility for strengthening its status.

During the session, students shared their thoughts on the history of the Kazakh language and its role in preserving national culture and spiritual values. They also discussed the importance of the mother tongue in shaping national identity, emphasising that respect for one’s language reflects respect for one’s country and that promoting the mother tongue helps preserve national values.

The session encouraged students to strengthen their national identity, develop a sense of patriotism and responsibility, and appreciate their cultural and spiritual heritage. As future primary school teachers, participants also reflected on their role in fostering respect for the Kazakh language and passing on an appreciation of its richness and significance to younger generations.
