CYBERSECURITY ISSUES IN EDUCATION DISCUSSED
As digital technologies become deeply integrated into all spheres of human life, the importance of information security continues to grow. Particularly in the educational space, the widespread use of digital resources has elevated the formation of a cybersecurity culture to a necessity of our time. Topical issues in this direction were widely discussed today at a national scientific and pedagogical conference held at Abai University.
The scientific gathering, centered on the topic "Cybersecurity in
Education: Modern Challenges, Innovative Technologies, and the Formation of
Digital Culture," brought together the university’s faculty and doctoral
students, who shared their research focused on securing the digital space.
Today, the education system is being enriched with new technologies such as
artificial intelligence, digital platforms, smart classrooms, and digital
twins. While these changes expand the possibilities of the educational process,
they also heighten requirements for data protection and digital security.
The more digital technology advances, the greater the responsibility of the
person using it. This principle became one of the key pillars of the
conference. Lecturers from the Faculty of Information Technology and Artificial
Intelligence highlighted the future educator's professional responsibility in a
digital environment, explaining effective ways to safely navigate social
networks and information systems.
Cybersecurity is not just the duty of technical specialists. For today's
educator, digital literacy is becoming an integral component of professional
competence. Teaching learners how to use digital tools is no longer enough; it
is essential to train them to remain safe in that environment, discern
authentic information, protect personal data, and act responsibly.
During the panel sessions, these issues were addressed through the lens of
developing students' digital culture. The nature of threats such as cyber
fraud, phishing, and social engineering - along with methods to prevent them - were
analyzed in close connection with the educational process. In today's digital
landscape, a culture of security does not form overnight. It builds upon
knowledge, daily habits, and personal responsibility. Therefore, cybersecurity
in education goes beyond protecting technology; it is directly tied to
nurturing individuals with a well-established digital culture.
In short, the national scientific and pedagogical conference brought
together scientific research and highlighted the importance of shaping an
educational environment capable of meeting the new demands of the digital era.
