FIVE DAYS LEFT UNTIL THE LAUNCH OF THE "GOLDEN HORDE: HISTORY LIVE" DIGITAL PROJECT
It is time not only to read history, but to make it speak in a modern
format. Guided by this vision, Abai University will host the "Golden
Horde: History Live" digital project from October 5 to 16. The initiative
is aimed at developing students' skills in working with historical sources,
conducting research, analyzing data, and presenting information in a
contemporary media format.
At the international symposium "The Golden Horde — A Model of Steppe
Civilization: History, Archaeology, Culture, and Identity," Head of State
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized the significance of the Golden Horde's legacy
in the history of the Kazakh people. In this regard, scientifically researching
this crucial period in the history of the Great Steppe and conveying its
essence to the younger generation through modern language is a vital
responsibility of the educational and scientific community. Abai University
continues to make its own contribution to this cause.
The main goal of the "Golden Horde: History Live" digital project
is to present the history of the Golden Horde to young people in an accessible
and engaging format, grounded in scientific data. Students will independently
research historical sources, analyze information, and present it in creative
formats tailored for social media audiences. A key feature of the project is
that students do not passively receive history; instead, they explore it
themselves. Participants will not merely search for information on a given
topic, but will compare sources, evaluate data, explain the essence of
historical events, and craft content suitable for social media audiences. In
this project, the student acts not as a listener, but as a researcher, content
creator, and storyteller shaping history in a new language.
The project is structured around the "7 Days – 7 Histories"
challenge. Participants will explore different facets of the Golden Horde's
history through seven themes: "One Figure," "One Fact,"
"One Myth," "One Location," "One Artifact,"
"One Event," and "One Conclusion." Within these areas,
students will research historical personalities, events, cities, and
archaeological artifacts, as well as critically examine widespread historical
misconceptions. Additionally, topics such as state governance, legal culture,
economics, trade, urban culture, science, and spiritual heritage will be
addressed. Ultimately, the project enables students to simultaneously develop
their research, creative, and media skills. Rather than repeating ready-made
information, participating students must examine historical data independently
and deliver it in a modern, creative format. After all, history is not merely a
chronicle of the past — it is the nation's historical memory, a spiritual
foundation for generations, and a guiding light for understanding the present.
Every day, student participants will create original content based on the
designated topic and publish it on their personal social media pages. Through
this process, participants will not only research historical topics but also
build skills in communicating their thoughts accurately and creatively using
modern media tools.
The final stage of the competition will take place from October 19 to 21.
Based on the evaluation, the best projects demonstrating exceptional creative
search and high content quality will be recognized with special awards across
various categories.
