MEMORANDUM SIGNED WITH BEIJING NORMAL UNIVERSITY

Abai University hosted a meeting with a delegation from Beijing Normal University aimed at strengthening international cooperation. During the meeting, the two institutions signed a memorandum on the development of academic and research cooperation.

The event was attended by Aigul Iskakova, Vice-Rector of Abai University for Strategy and Internationalization, as well as faculty deans and professors. The international delegation, headed by Wang Shoujun, Vice President of Beijing Normal University, included Cai Hongbo, Deputy Dean of the School of Belt and Road Studies; Fan Wenxia, Secretary-General of the Alumni Association; Wu Ye, Director of the Computational Communication Research Center at the Institute of Advanced Studies; and Liu Juan, Director of the Russian Research Center.

The meeting focused on joint research projects and academic events, student academic mobility programs, and the implementation of dual-degree programs. The parties also discussed inviting Chinese professors and researchers to deliver special lectures in the field of artificial intelligence.

Particular attention was paid to education and research in the field of AI, as well as opportunities to introduce modern technologies into teacher education.

Today, artificial intelligence technologies have become a tool that is transforming not only the technological sector but also the content and methodology of the educational process. By integrating AI capabilities into academic programs, higher education institutions can help future professionals adapt to the requirements of the modern labor market. For future teachers in particular, important competencies include the responsible use of AI tools, information verification, digital content creation, and the development of assignments tailored to students’ individual learning needs. Cooperation between the two universities is expected to contribute to the exchange of experience and the development of new technological opportunities in this area.

At the end of the meeting, Abai University and Beijing Normal University signed a Memorandum of Understanding. The Chinese delegation expressed its readiness to welcome students from Kazakhstan and provide opportunities for internships and academic training.

It should be noted that Beijing Normal University is one of China’s oldest and most prestigious public universities. Founded in 1902, it was the first university in China dedicated to teacher education. Today, the university hosts nearly 40,000 international students from 90 countries around the world. It ranks 134th in the QS World University Rankings and 61st among universities in Asia.
