Student life is one of the brightest periods that remains etched in a person’s memory. Some make new friends, others discover their dreams, while still others take their first steps toward their future profession. Today, the «Welcome, Student!» ceremony, marking the beginning of this special period, brought young people together at the Mukhtar Auezov Stadium of Abai University. The evening featured heartfelt wishes and inspiring performances by stars of the stage, giving students an unforgettable experience.

Even before the official ceremony began, the vibrant energy of youth could be felt around the stadium. Some first-year students were looking for their friends, while others watched the stage with excitement, gradually becoming accustomed to their new surroundings. Music filled the air, adding to the festive atmosphere and the students’ cheerful mood. «DJ DARKHAN» and the «A-Blues Band» welcomed the students with beautiful music, setting the tone for the celebration.

At 4:00 p.m., the official ceremony opened to majestic music. The words of Abai, «You, too, are a brick in the world; find your place and be set in it», appeared on the screen, conveying the central message of the evening. The great poet’s words serve as a guiding principle not only for today’s young people but also for the teachers of tomorrow.

Soon, performers from the «ABAI: NEW LEVEL» dance club took the stage. Their choreographic performances set to Michael Jackson’s music and «Tokyo Drift» immediately captivated the audience and drew the young people into the rhythm of the evening. The distance between the stage and the audience seemed to disappear.

During the official part of the evening, Bolat Tilep, Chairman of the Board–Rector of Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, addressed the first-year students with a congratulatory speech. He emphasized that, as the first university to bear the honored name of Abai, a great thinker of humanity, the university carries the spiritual legacy entrusted to it by the intellectuals of Alash. His call for young people to remain faithful to this legacy made a particularly strong impression on those gathered.

First-year student of the Faculty of Philology Sagyntai Osiet took the oath on behalf of the new generation and received a student ID from the university administration. With great emotion, he conveyed to his fellow students the sense of responsibility that comes with beginning a journey of education at the university and serving the country.

As the saying goes, «The path of a good person is bright». From the very first day of their student life, the young people received guidance and warm wishes from Deputy Head of the Youth Policy Department of Almaty, Miras Nysanaliev, as well as renowned journalist, television presenter and university alumnus Aman Tasygan.

There is a Kazakh proverb: «The world is bright for the educated; the day of the uneducated is dark». For every young person embarking on the path of knowledge, a university is not merely a place where lectures are held, but an environment where a personality is shaped. Seemingly aware of this, the students began engaging freely with their new surroundings from their very first day.

The performances on stage continued throughout the evening. The melodic songs of the «KeshYOU» group added to the festive atmosphere, while the fashion show of the «Dala Ruhy» collection combined traditional national motifs with contemporary fashion. The «Dostyk, 13» theatrical musical by the «Qaganat» Creative Union offered another perspective on stage art.

The performance also featured the heartfelt appreciation and hopes for young people expressed by Bakhytzhan Alpeisov, Honored Worker of Kazakhstan and an actor of film and theatre. The songs of the «Saryn» group, the jokes performed by the «KazNPU» Zhаidarman team, and the «Where Are the Abai Youth?» vocal performance by the «A-B SOUL» group enriched the programme, while Sabina Movlaeva’s soulful performance captivated the audience.

The students’ sense of style was also put in the spotlight during the evening. The best-dressed participants were recognized in the «Abai Style» category and received various awards. Their outfits reflected not only their individual personalities but also their refined sense of style.

The celebration became even more vibrant with performances by popular artists. The «Ademi-ai» duo, Nurmukhammed Zhakyp, Bakytzhan «BAHA», Baglan Abdiyraimov, and Murat Yaprak brought the audience an unforgettable atmosphere and plenty of positive emotions. The enthusiastic applause from the crowd at the stadium was clear evidence of the audience’s appreciation.

The concert programme continued with a dance party. Accompanied by DJ DARKHAN’s music, the joyful energy of the young people filled the Almaty sky with celebration. Many attendees sought to preserve the most memorable moments of the ceremony through photographs, capturing the emotions of an unforgettable evening.

It is clear that major changes in a person’s life begin with thoughtful steps. Perhaps, for today’s first-year students, this celebration will become one of the first meaningful milestones of their university journey. What united everyone was a shared feeling - the joy of becoming a student.

Thus, the «Welcome, Student!» ceremony became one of the first bright memories of a new generation at Abai University. Having been celebrated with applause and inspired by music and performances, the young people took their first steps onto a path that may one day lead them to write their names in golden letters in the history of their alma mater and in the chronicle of their country.

It is worth noting that this year, approximately 6,600 students were admitted to Abai University across bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programmes.
