On 21 September 2026, Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University hosted a discussion on the implementation of the joint educational project “Lesson with a Scholar: University Science for School Students.”

The discussion brought together B.T. Tleubekova, Dean of the Faculty of Philology at Abai University; representatives of the Almaty Department of Education; N.M. Nuradinov, Principal of Al-Farabi School-Gymnasium No. 145; Yerlan Slambekuly Kasen, Head of the Department of Theory of the Kazakh Language and Teaching Methodology; Shokankhan Duisenkhanovich Kuttybayev, Head of the Department of Kazakh Literature and Teaching Methodology named after Academician S. Kirabayev; and Aidos Muratuly Tabiyev, Deputy Principal for Academic Affairs.

During the meeting, the participants discussed the project’s content and implementation arrangements in detail. The project aims to strengthen long-term cooperation between schools and the university. Under the initiative, Abai University scholars will deliver engaging and interactive lessons on current topics in the school curriculum, drawing on contemporary research. The content will be tailored to students’ age and designed to encourage their interest in research while developing their ability to formulate research questions, analyse and compare information, support their views with evidence and draw conclusions.

Particular attention will be given to linking the school curriculum in Kazakh language and literature with current philological research. Students will be able to engage directly with scholars and learn about academic and professional pathways in philology. The project will also facilitate the exchange of effective teaching methods and practical experience between university scholars and school teachers. This cooperation will provide a lasting partnership platform for future joint lessons, research projects and methodological activities.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the participants agreed to launch the project on 29 September 2026. Abai University selected five scholars to take part in the project, and preparations for the first joint lesson are under way.

The project is designed to bring university research closer to school students and strengthen substantive cooperation between schools and higher education institutions.
