PARTNERSHIP ESTABLISHED WITH BUSAN UNIVERSITY OF FOREIGN STUDIES

As part of President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s state visit to the Republic of Korea, an official delegation of Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, led by Chairman of the Board – Rector Bolat Tilep, met with Chang Sun-hyun, President of Busan University of Foreign Studies. The two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at developing academic and scientific cooperation between the two universities.

The Memorandum between Abai University and Busan University of Foreign Studies covers several areas of cooperation, including academic mobility programmes for students, joint research and academic events, and the implementation of double-degree programmes. It also provides for the appointment of international research supervisors for doctoral students and the preparation of publications for international academic journals.

The bilateral cooperation agreement was signed by Bolat Anapiuly Tilep, Chairman of the Board – Rector of Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, and Chang Sun-hyun, President of Busan University of Foreign Studies. The agreement represents a continuation of efforts to strengthen Kazakhstan–Korea cooperation in science and higher education carried out within the framework of the First Central Asia–Republic of Korea Summit.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to strengthen international cooperation and facilitate the exchange of experience among students, faculty members and researchers of the two universities. The parties also discussed the prerequisites for launching a double-degree programme. Serik Ivatov, Head of the Department of Foreign Languages at Abai University, also took part in the meeting and shared his views on further student exchange opportunities within the framework of academic mobility.

It is worth noting that Busan University of Foreign Studies is a prominent higher education institution in South Korea specializing in foreign languages and international studies. Founded in 1981, the university offers in-depth study of numerous languages of the world and also focuses on Oriental studies and international business. The university has previously established agreements and cooperated with a number of universities in Kazakhstan.
