ABAI UNIVERSITY AND KANGWON NATIONAL UNIVERSITY SIGN MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING

Today, as part of the state visit of President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to the Republic of Korea, Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University and Kangwon National University of the Republic of Korea signed a Memorandum of Understanding. Reached as part of the First Central Asia–Republic of Korea Summit, this partnership will provide significant opportunities for bilateral knowledge and experience exchange.

The signing ceremony of the Memoranda of Understanding between higher education institutions of the two countries, held during the Summit, was attended by Sayasat Nurbek, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The document, signed by Bolat Anapiuly, Chairman of the Board and Rector of Abai University, and Jeong Jae-yeon, Rector of Kangwon National University, is expected to further strengthen cooperation between the two universities.

In particular, the bilateral agreement will take academic mobility for students and the exchange of experience between faculty members and researchers to a new level. The agreement also provides for the exchange of academic publications and educational research materials between the two universities, as well as the development of transnational education programs.

Under the Memorandum, Abai University plans to launch a joint double-degree program with Kangwon National University in the 2+2 and 3+1 formats based on the “6B01728 – Foreign Language: Two Foreign Languages” educational program offered by the Department of Foreign Languages.

The renewed agreement is expected to open up new opportunities for students and faculty members and elevate the partnership between Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University and Kangwon National University to a new level.
