From September 16 to 18, 2026, Abai University will host an international student forum titled “The Value of Education in Ensuring a Sustainable Future.” The event will bring together representatives of Shanghai Normal University and the UNESCO Teacher Education Centre (TEC), faculty members of Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, young researchers, and students.

The main objective of the forum is to strengthen academic and educational cooperation among partner organizations from Central Asian countries, broaden future teachers’ understanding of the values of sustainable education, and discuss the quality of teacher training and innovative approaches to teacher education.

The three-day forum program will cover a range of topical areas, including innovations in education, intercultural dialogue, new approaches to teacher training, artificial intelligence and digital technologies, inclusive education, and the Sustainable Development Goals.

The official opening ceremony of the international forum will take place on September 16 in the Assembly Hall of Abai University. According to the program, representatives of Shanghai Normal University will deliver presentations on education and the nature of the teaching profession. The agenda will also address the use of artificial intelligence in the educational process, contemporary areas of psychological research in Kazakhstan, and the transformation of teacher education for sustainable development.

As part of the international student forum, participants will take part in the intellectual game “SDGs: Youth Dialogue on the Future,” a Global Open Talk on “Student Life in Different Countries,” as well as cultural and educational meetings among students. On the second day of the forum, international guests will visit primary and secondary schools in Almaty to learn about the experience of Kazakhstan’s education system.

Following the forum, the participants are expected to approve a plan to establish an international networking community for future teachers, promote academic mobility among students and faculty members, and implement joint projects and research initiatives within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals.

The partners also intend to continue cooperation in organizing conferences, webinars, competitions, international educational programs, and internships.
