The laboratory infrastructure at Abai University has been significantly strengthened to support the development of academic and research activities. A new Faculty of Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence has been established, marking an important step toward advancing digital education. In addition, laboratories and an agro-biostation aimed at enhancing students’ practical skills have been launched, while educational programs have been updated.

As one of the leading pedagogical universities in Kazakhstan and Central Asia, Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University conducts its academic activities in accordance with global standards. A new faculty has been established to train specialists who meet the demands of the modern world, while laboratories have been opened to further develop students’ research activities. This was reported by Banu Narbekova, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at the University.

«Over the past few years, our university has been undergoing structural and academic transformations. These include the establishment of the Faculty of Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence and the opening of six laboratories at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Geography. They cover areas such as nanochemistry, electrochemistry, and experimental biology. We have also launched an agro-biostation capable of accommodating up to 60 people per season. Students will undertake practical training here and continue their research activities,» the Vice-Rector said.

The university currently offers a total of 157 educational programs. These include 60 bachelor’s degree programs, 58 master’s degree programs, and 39 doctoral programs, as well as 8 programs at the Lorraine branch. Of the 49 educational programs submitted for the Atameken National Ranking, half were included among the top three.

The modernization of educational programs is aimed at aligning educational content with labor market requirements, digital technologies, artificial intelligence, and practical pedagogical experience.

For the new 2026–2027 academic year, nearly 50 educational programs have been updated and submitted to the Unified Platform for Higher Education. The learning outcomes, course catalogs, curricula, and syllabi of these programs are managed through the Abai Digital platform.

Another important innovation in teacher education is the introduction of the Action Research and Lesson Study formats in the preparation of diploma research projects. This year, 256 students prepared their diploma projects using the Lesson Study format, while 158 students conducted research based on Action Research.

University graduates are in high demand in today’s labor market. The graduate employment rate stands at 95%. In addition, an annual Job Fair is organized to facilitate the employment of graduating students. This year, nearly 250 employer organizations participated in the event, offering graduates 1,214 job vacancies.

The university is also strengthening its cooperation with employers. In 2025, 64 memoranda of understanding were signed, followed by 78 memoranda in the first half of 2026.

Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University continues to demonstrate its status as a leading institution for training the country’s best teachers. The transformation of teacher education will continue.
