THE UNIVERSITY WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE TRAINING OF TEACHING STAFF FOR THE CITY OF ALMATY

A new step has been taken towards providing Almaty’s education system with qualified teaching professionals. The Department of Education of Almaty has signed cooperation memoranda with leading higher education institutions in the country. Among them is Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University.

The new agreement aims to strengthen the connection between the two levels of the education system – higher and secondary education – and to ensure continuity at every stage, from the training of future professionals to their adaptation to the professional environment and career development.

Banu Narbekova, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of the University, and Saken Aralbayev, Head of the Department of Education of Almaty, signed a bilateral memorandum of cooperation. The cooperation will focus on improving the quality of education, expanding opportunities for students to undertake practical training in schools, developing academic mobility, and supporting the employment of graduates in government institutions across Almaty.

The parties will also strengthen their efforts in career guidance for school students, the joint implementation of research and methodological projects, and the development of teachers’ professional competencies. Particular attention will be paid to the development of the “Pedagogical Classes” project, aimed at fostering sustained interest in teaching professions among young people and building a talent pool for the city’s education system.

Abai University’s experience in training future teachers and its strong cooperation with educational institutions enable students to combine theoretical knowledge with practical experience and adapt to the professional environment at an early stage. Previously, the University and schools have already implemented joint projects aimed at developing students’ professional skills, providing internship opportunities, and supporting graduate employment.

The new initiative will contribute to increasing the attractiveness of the teaching profession and providing young people with clear opportunities for professional development in the field. Thus, the connection between the university – school – labour market will be strengthened, contributing to the development of an effective model for training a new generation of professionals needed by Almaty’s education system.
