ACADEMICIAN MAMBET KOYGELDIYEV CELEBRATES HIS 80TH BIRTHDAY

Sayasat Nurbek, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, extended his congratulations to Mambet Koygeldiyev, a prominent scholar in Alash studies, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, and Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan, on the occasion of his 80th birthday. Bolat Tlep, Chairman of the Board – Rector of Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University (Abai University), personally presented the Minister’s official letter along with warm wishes on behalf of the faculty and staff of the country's first university, which was founded with the active involvement of Alash movement leaders.

This year marks the 80th anniversary of Mambet Kulzhabayevich, a distinguished historian who has made invaluable contributions to national historical science, uncovering omitted historical facts and restoring records essential to Kazakh national identity. For many years, Academician Koygeldiyev has been dedicated to mentoring new generations of history educators at Abai University. By combining academic rigor with pedagogical wisdom, he has elevated history beyond a classroom subject, positioning it as the nation's spiritual memory and a cornerstone of statehood consciousness.

In his congratulatory message, Minister Sayasat Nurbek emphasized: "Your professional journey stands as a prime example of responsibility and competence. Your strong leadership qualities, vast experience, strategic foresight, and commitment to innovation earn you profound respect and sincere gratitude."

While delivering the Minister's address, Rector Bolat Tlep also presented commemorative gifts on behalf of the university community and announced plans to host a major scientific and practical conference in honor of the Academician's anniversary this coming autumn.

Academician Mambet Koygeldiyev has devoted his career to national history and higher education. He has held executive and teaching positions in research institutes and higher education institutions, contributing significantly to key areas of Kazakh history. His research focuses on the history of the Alash movement, national liberation struggles, and previously unexplored periods of 20th-century Kazakhstan. His fundamental monographs, research papers, and textbooks represent a vital part of the nation's historiography. Today, he continues his research activities at Abai University, mentoring aspiring historians and specialists.

Earlier, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev awarded Mambet Kulzhabayevich the Order of Barys (2nd Class) in recognition of his service to the nation. The state award was presented to him by the Akim of Almaty, Darkhan Satybaldy.
