Today, Abai University hosted an official delegation from the Foreign Relations Council of Jiangsu Province, People's Republic of China. During the visit, the two parties signed a memorandum of understanding and approved an action plan for joint initiatives aimed at further deepening friendly relations between Kazakhstan and China in education, science, and innovation.
The official meeting, focused on strengthening academic partnerships, was attended by authorized representatives from both sides. The foreign delegation included leaders and members of the Foreign Relations Councils of Jiangsu Province and the city of Nanjing, representatives from Nanjing Polytechnic University, as well as executives from the region's leading technology and publishing companies. Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University was represented by the Vice-Rectors for Academic Affairs and Research and Innovation, alongside faculty deans and department heads, who shared their proposals.
During the gathering, the guests were introduced to the history, achievements, and strategic importance of Abai University within Central Asia’s educational landscape. The head of the foreign delegation, Liu Bujian, outlined the key activities of the council and expressed gratitude to the partners for advancing academic ties between the two nations. She affirmed their readiness to deepen the partnership and foster collaboration with the region's leading institution.
Jiangsu Province is one of China's most rapidly developing regions in education, science, and technology, ranking among the top for both its number of higher education institutions and overall educational quality. Considered the country's third major academic hub after Beijing and Shanghai, the province hosts 175 universities and nearly 3 million students. Noting that Kazakhstani youth are among these students, Liu Bujian expressed a strong desire to establish joint degree programs with Abai University and build systematic cooperation in artificial intelligence and emerging scientific fields.
Furthermore, the two sides discussed organizing online and offline lectures for students majoring in Printing and Publishing at the Faculty of Arts in collaboration with a major publishing house affiliated with the Jiangsu Foreign Relations Council. They also explored opportunities for master's students to complete internships at the publishing center and agreed to look into joint book publication. Additionally, an initiative was introduced to incorporate intensive Chinese language training into the Translation Studies program.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties signed a memorandum reaffirming their mutual understanding and partnership, agreeing to elevate cooperation in education and science to a new milestone.
