ABAI UNIVERSITY SIGNS MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WITH LEADING CHINESE ENTERPRISE

As part of the Year of Digitalization and AI in Kazakhstan, Abai University continues to expand its strategic partnerships with global technology leaders. In line with these efforts, a delegation from Unilumin Group - a global leader in LED display technology and smart lighting solutions—paid an official visit to the university. During the meeting, both parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) outlining key initiatives to modernize the educational environment.

 

The university leadership, headed by Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Banu Narbekova, presented the institution's key achievements and standing in international academic rankings to the guests. The meeting was attended by Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation Yertay Sultan, Vice-Rector for Digitalization Nurken Musabayev, and representatives from the Department of International Cooperation, alongside specialists from the International Marketing Department of Unilumin Group.

 

The Chinese delegation highlighted Unilumin Group's R&D capabilities and global achievements. Operating in over 160 countries, the company is currently expanding its footprint across the Eurasian region and plans to open an official representative office in Almaty in the near future. Company representatives expressed their readiness to offer internships and employment opportunities to university students, as well as to collaborate on joint projects at their manufacturing facilities in China.

 

During the discussions, the leadership of Abai University put forward targeted proposals aimed at elevating pedagogical education to a new technological standard. Specifically, the initiative to establish a joint research laboratory under the MoU was raised. The center will focus on developing and testing advanced LED displays designed to be safe for children's vision and health in schools and educational institutions.

 

The meeting concluded with the official signing of the Memorandum of Understanding. Under the agreement, the parties agreed to launch the specialized laboratory and develop joint Master's degree programs integrating design, arts, and information technology. This initiative will pave the way for training a new generation of educators and professionals proficient in cutting-edge multimedia technologies.
