ABAI DIGITAL – A NEW MILESTONE IN DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION

In the era of rapidly advancing technologies, Abai University continues to enhance its educational environment while systematically advancing its digital transformation agenda. One of the University's flagship initiatives in this direction is the Abai Digital platform, which integrates academic, administrative, and service processes into a unified digital ecosystem. By connecting various information modules, the platform has standardized data exchange and established a common digital environment across the University. These improvements have accelerated day-to-day operations and significantly enhanced the quality and efficiency of institutional management.

Abai Digital is a comprehensive digital platform that integrates the University's academic, administrative, human resources, research, and infrastructure processes. The primary objective of the project is to coordinate workflows across different systems through a unified data platform. The system has streamlined document management, improved information accessibility, and introduced modern data analytics capabilities. Nurken Musabayev, Vice-Rector for Digitalization, highlighted the significance of these transformations.

"The Abai Digital platform enables the University's document management system to transition entirely to a digital format. It significantly reduces dependence on paper-based documentation while accelerating information processing. Data retrieval becomes more efficient, and analytical tools required for informed managerial decision-making become readily available. The next stage involves creating a unified and reliable data environment for analytics, intelligent search, and digital assistants. This will allow digital agents to support process management and facilitate interaction with the University's information systems," said Nurken Musabayev.

According to the Vice-Rector, the project is being implemented in phases. Each subsystem undergoes development, testing, and production deployment before being fully introduced. One of the first services launched was the Admissions Office module, which automated application registration, document processing, questionnaire completion, application status tracking, and report generation. As a result, more than 9,000 applications were submitted through the portal in 2024, while in 2025 the figure exceeded 20,000. This significantly accelerated data processing during the admissions campaign and expanded the University's analytical capabilities.

Today, the platform's core resources are also widely used in managing academic programmes. The course catalogue, curricula, individual learning pathways, and academic workload are all developed and managed within a single integrated environment. Nurzhamal Oshanova, Director of the Department for Educational Programme Analysis, emphasized the importance of this initiative.

"Abai Digital is fully integrated with the Unified Higher Education Platform. The system is used to develop the structure of academic programmes, learning outcomes, course catalogues, curricula, and syllabi. Nearly 50 updated educational programmes for the 2026–2027 academic year have already been submitted through the platform to update the Unified Higher Education Platform. Through Abai Digital, students can review their academic programmes, select elective courses, and create their individual study plans," noted Nurzhamal Oshanova.

In the coming years, Abai Digital will further expand its functionality by introducing advanced data analytics, intelligent search capabilities, and AI-powered digital assistants. The University's Academic Council has approved a 2024–2029 Roadmap for the platform's continued development. The implementation of this roadmap is expected to further improve the efficiency of university processes and elevate institutional governance to a new level.
