Nearly 127,000 applicants submitted their documents for the state educational grant competition this year. Under the selection rules, applicants were allowed to select up to four educational programs and higher education institutions. Based on the application results, over 22,000 prospective students chose Abai University, seeking to study at Kazakhstan's first university with a century-long history. Consequently, during the "Applicant 2026" campaign, the country’s leading pedagogical university secured its position among the top educational institutions nationwide.

The acceptance of applications for state grants took place across Kazakhstan from July 13 to July 20. According to the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, more than 75,000 undergraduate grants were allocated this year. In line with labor market demands, the majority of grants (60%) were directed to engineering and technical fields, 20% to pedagogical disciplines, and the remaining 20% to other specialties.

The Abai University Admissions Committee successfully completed the application processing campaign. Given that candidates were eligible to choose up to four different educational programs and universities, the leading pedagogical university in Kazakhstan and Central Asia emerged as a top choice nationwide. According to the National Testing Center, 22,115 applicants listed Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University in their choices, including 6,479 as their first choice, 6,162 as their second, 5,458 as their third, and 4,016 as their fourth.

Furthermore, the applicant pool includes 423 "Altyn Belgi" (Golden Sign) recipients, 614 holders of honor high school diplomas or college degrees, and 16 winners of academic Olympiads or patriotic achievement awards. The most sought-after programs at Abai University included Law, Foreign Language Teacher Training, and Computer Science Teacher Training. Specifically, 1,230 applications were submitted for (KZ-FR-007) "Law", 1,173 for B018 "Foreign Language Teacher Training", and 953 for B011 "Computer Science Teacher Training".

The results of the state educational grant allocation will be announced by August 10. The university's Admissions Committee will remain open until August 25.
