Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University has officially launched its Faculty of Information Technologies and Artificial Intelligence. The new entity is designed to train next-generation IT specialists and AI-literate educators equipped to meet the demands of the digital era. This milestone initiative directly supports the upcoming national pilot program to integrate artificial intelligence into secondary education. The faculty is positioned to become the primary hub for preparing highly qualified specialists to meet the growing demand for modern technologies in classrooms.

The school pilot project aligns with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s strategic directive to prioritize digitalization and artificial intelligence. In its initial phase, the program will roll out across 10 schools in the Kyzylorda and Pavlodar regions, later expanding to 50, and eventually scaling to an additional 300 schools by 2027. Successfully integrating AI systems into the educational process requires more than updated curricula; it demands the immediate training of specialists who can navigate these technologies. Abai University is taking on this strategic mission, ensuring the pilot schools are staffed with innovative educators and technicians.

The newly established faculty is now accepting applications for two major degree programs: "Artificial Intelligence and Information Technologies" and "Training of Computer Science Teachers." Students will gain comprehensive expertise in high-demand fields, including programming, machine learning, robotics, cybersecurity, data analysis, and the Internet of Things (IoT). These programs are structured to ensure graduates can seamlessly bridge deep theoretical knowledge with the practical application of AI tools.

Prospective students seeking admission must select the "Mathematics – Computer Science" subject combination on the Unified National Testing (UNT), with the minimum threshold score set at 75 points. Graduates of these programs will play a crucial role in building Kazakhstan’s digital future and elevating the national education system. Applicants scoring above 75 points on the UNT are eligible to compete for state educational grants. When applying for the grant competition, applicants must select the official institution code for Abai University (KazNPU), which is 007, and specify their chosen educational program.

The state grant application period runs from July 13 to July 20, while enrollment for self-funded programs at Abai University will remain open until August 25. Admissions offices are currently operating in the country’s two major cities: in the capital, Astana, at 8/1 Ushkyshter Street, and in Almaty at 30 Kazybek Bi Street.
